When Did Art Become So Politicized?

Have you ever wondered what happened to the art industry? For decades and centuries, art has been a form of enjoyment. Now, it’s been turned into a political game. Whatever is the most political gets the top spot for art museums today. Talent doesn’t have to be a thing anymore. It’s just about politics instead.

That’s just wrong. We need to get back to what real art is. Art is creativity. Art also shows the beauty of maturity which much modern art doesn’t seem to mature in artistic skills anyway. If so, then we wouldn’t be so in awe of a grown adult making something that a toddler can do. I do admit that there are times when I am a fan of abstract artwork, but event they have a time and place for it. But, that’s a topic for another day.

Why does everything need to be a political statement? I’m tired of museums being more about social justice and politics than just what art is supposed to be. Then they wonder why sales would be down. Spending a fortune at a museum today for a political statement doesn’t make any sense. It’s called an ART museum, not political museum. If people also want to remain with the basics of art training, then there should be an elementary art exhibit or museum instead. Much artists get robbed over something toddlers do every day. If people can’t have any patience, then they cannot be artists at all.

Most likely, artists won’t get noticed by big box “experts” today if they are not political in their pieces.

Many create art to escape reality anyway, not to be the next advocate for a political statement.

It’s sad that many amazing artists don’t get noticed until after their deaths and I believe this is a big reason why. Not the only reason of course, but a major contributing reason. Whatever is the most popular or whatever is the most political especially to fit their own agenda – that’s where the attention goes most of the time.

It’s time to make art great again.
